Magnificent Buildings

Against Jeffs better judgement we started our day in search of the Merida Wal-MEX (AKA Walmart). A short walk into centro from our house we boarded a bus for 6 pesos each and a 5 minute ride north of the main plaza to Walmart. I have to admit that in the US Walmart is the modern K-mart, things at affordable cost. But in Merida and Mexico in general there really isn't that much of a savings compared to market and off street stores. But we had to venture. It took us 5 minutes to get there and about 5 minutes to leave, only long enough to purchause refreshing iceies!....onto bigger and better things.....Paseo de Montejo

The Walmart is located on a popular street called Paseo de Montejo , an elegant tree lined street with magnificent historic mansions, museums and hotels. It was breathtaking. I have a secret love affair with these buildings and it grows stronger with every corner I turn!
