Lions Tigers and.... Iguanas

As promised I have finally settled down to write about the Merida city Zoo. Which is also celebrating its hundreth year. First of all its completley free, and offers a great setting in the middle of city! I have only been to one other zoo in Mexico and that was Puerto Vallarta. And I have to say that the Merida zoo is in a whole other ball park.

We had a great time seeing all of the exotic animals from lions, monkeys, cougars, crocs, deer, pink flamingos, all types of tropical birds, giraffe, zebras, ostrich the list goes on, but you get the picture!

After walking the zoo we decided to board the zoo train for another look from the comforts of our seats. The cost was 1 peso per person! There is also a lagoon where you can rent little paddle boats, mini chair lift rides and even horse back rides. We will have to do that next time. Such a fun day!
