Stone Fake out

I came across a store here in Merida in Centro called Miguels. From the street it looked like every other craft store on the block, but once I entered it was like I was in craft heaven. Once section dedicated to year long Christmas stuff, and 2 levels of crafting, party making, scrapbooking splendor.

So I couldn't resist picking up something to craft. I found some great styrofoam letters, black and grey acrylic paint and a sponge. Total cost was like 28 pesos. I painted them in black first, let them dry then mixed some black and grey pait in a few different shades, took my sponge and started sponging the black letters. I was going for a stone/rock look and I think they turned out great. The texture of the styrofoam ads to them very well....

They are so light weight I just used double sided foam tape and put them on a lonely wall in the kitchen.

Glad to see you are settling in, I think of you often and wonder how you are... is weird being here and not being able to go to bfast at La Hacienda with you!
I saw Charlotte yesterday, took my application and some photos to her and she said they will keep the same location as earlier this year as they have not advanced on their dealing with City Hall, which does not surprise me...
I send you a big hug and hope to hear from you soon and see some photos of your nest!
